Background:

Ares Real Estate and Slate Asset Management have bought a €300 million portfolio of retail parks in Poland from Trei Real Estate, boosting the European retail property market.

Kevin Cahill, Partner and Head of European Diversified Investments at Ares Real Estate, said the acquisition reaffirms Ares’ long-standing belief in the Polish property sector and the broader European retail landscape.

He said the deal shows Ares’ strong confidence in both the Polish real estate market and the wider European retail sector, where the company has invested for more than 20 years. He added that the portfolio offers great potential for growth, and Ares looks forward to working with Slate to maximize its value.

Sven Vollenbruch, Managing Director at Slate, emphasized that the acquisition fits seamlessly with the company’s focus on essential and convenience-based real estate. He said the collection of modern, well-built properties fits perfectly with Slate’s focus on essential, income-generating real estate. After years of analyzing the Polish market, the company saw this as the right moment to enter Poland and grow its presence across Europe.

Pepijn Morshuis, CEO of Trei Real Estate, described the deal as a natural transition. He said the company remains confident in the steady growth of retail parks and convenience shopping in Poland. As Trei turns its focus to the U.S. market, Ares and Slate take over the Vendo Parks as trusted new owners, giving Trei room to pursue new projects abroad.

The deal is an important step for Ares and Slate’s growth in Europe and highlights Poland’s rising appeal as a strong and promising real estate market.
