Background:
Sentinel Real Estate (“Sentinel”) has announced the launch of its UK living platform, appointing Ben Sanderson as Managing Director to spearhead the firm’s entry into the sector. Based in Sentinel’s new London office, Sanderson will lead the setup of the firm’s UK investment platform focused on residential properties.
The UK housing market has strong potential, with high demand for good rental homes and not enough supply. Sentinel will focus on building-to-rent, single-family homes, student housing, and senior living across the country.
Michael Streicker, President and CEO of Sentinel, said that Ben’s long experience in the UK and European real estate and his strong knowledge of the housing sector make him ideal to lead Sentinel’s UK operations. Streicker added that they have worked together for over 15 years and that Ben’s skill in developing new business and his respected standing in the investment community will be very valuable as Sentinel expands into the UK housing market.
Sanderson brings over 25 years of global real estate experience, with significant expertise in residential investment across the UK, Europe, the US, and Australia. Before joining Sentinel, he was Managing Director at Aviva Investors, where he managed global real estate and infrastructure projects and helped create new residential investment programs in the UK and Europe.
“The UK living sector is especially attractive due to the undersupply of high-quality, affordable rental housing and the limited institutional presence in the market,” Sanderson said. “I am excited to build upon Sentinel’s proven global track record and provide a fully integrated solution to meet the growing demand for professionally managed rental housing across the UK.”
Established in 1969, Sentinel Real Estate is a New York City-based, independently owned real estate investment management firm. The firm manages $9.5 billion in institutional-quality assets across 29,000 apartment units and 5.2 million square feet of commercial property.
