Background:
The Liverpool City Region has launched a £11 billion public-private partnership to boost economic growth and real estate development over the next ten years.
The announcement at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium highlights the region’s goal to become a hub for innovation, sustainable growth and inclusive development.
Mayor Steve Rotheram said the partnership is an important step in making the Liverpool City Region a welcoming and growing place for investment. He said the region has a £11 billion investment plan and is ready to expand, working with investors, developers, and local communities to create jobs, housing, and shared growth.
The program targets the main areas of growth, such as Health and Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital, Creative, Maritime, and Net Zero, which will create the need to build homes, offices, research facilities, and mixed-use structures.
Green projects and transport upgrades, such as new rail stations, battery trains, improved ferries and buses, are advancing in the area, making new areas available to development.
The Life Sciences Innovation Zone will also introduce 800 million into the economy, 8,000 jobs, and expand research spaces. The region also plans to build nearly 8,000 new homes a year, backed by £700 million in government funding.
Closing the event, Liverpool City Council Leader Cllr Liam Robinson said: “Our offer is that when you invest in Liverpool City Region, you become part of an ecosystem of influential institutions and growth opportunities. With our world-class innovation clusters and strong leadership, the region is in a golden position to grow as a business hub, a family-friendly city, and a destination for future generations.”
